Position: The University of British Columbia (UBC) and BC Cancer Research Institute (BCCRI) are seeking a talented post-doctoral fellow to join us in Vancouver, BC. The research will take place at the Quantitative Radiomolecular Imaging & Therapy lab ( under the guidance of Dr. Arman Rahmim and Dr. Carlos Uribe.


The fellow will work in close collaboration with clinical research and imaging experts from UBC, BCCRI, and our industry partners. The efforts will include development and assessment of image processing and quantification methods (e.g. radiomics, machine learning), particularly as applied to single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET) for theranostic imaging. The research will aim at improving the clinical value of quantitative cancer images.


Our Qurit lab (pronounced Cure-it!) consists of a multicultural and multidisciplinary group of people located at the BCCRI, and provides unique opportunities for our trainees and researchers to freely explore creative ideas in a supportive environment. The infrastructure includes three new state-of-the-art PET/CT scanners allowing to push the limits of modern technology. Moreover, the close connection with the clinical environment allows for translation of novel methods to our cancer clinics in Vancouver, Victoria, and Kelowna.

Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a PhD in medical physics, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, applied mathematics, or a related field. Prior experience in image reconstruction, image processing or machine learning is a requirement. The candidate should be highly motivated with a strong interest and commitment to research. Curiosity and creativity with an aim towards independent research as well as good communication skills are also emphasized.

The initial appointment is for one year, and can be extended based on performance.
