The NSHA Department of Medical Physics is the largest of its kind in Atlantic Canada and fulfils mandated clinical support, advanced research and teaching. Clinical resources include nine IGRT-equipped clinical linear accelerators, an orthovoltage treatment unit, CT imaging platforms, HDR brachytherapy and Eclipse and iPlan TPSs. Research facilities include a complete and fully staffed electronics shop, machine shop, research RT planning systems, a 3D printing laboratory, and a computing grid.
The successful applicant will join a dynamic R&D team working on five separate, cutting-edge innovations to improve precision radiotherapy and radiosurgery. The team includes postdoctoral fellows, PhD and master's students, software developers, engineers, therapists, a project manager and four medical physicist PIs.
Assist in developing a dual-energy stereoscopic x-ray imaging system for precision radiotherapy and radiosurgery; Design phantoms, develop algorithms, and perform simulations and experimental studies; Design and implement data acquisition and control systems, critically analyze data, and report findings; Collaborate in preparation of papers and scientific presentation of results
MSc degree in medical physics, biomedical engineering or related fields; Proficiency in scientific programming languages such as Matlab, Python, and C Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Experience in data processing; Previous knowledge or experience in medical imaging systems is strongly desired; Previous experience with x-ray imaging systems or CT is preferred; Ability to disseminate findings clearly and concisely for a variety of audiences; Ability to meet project and reporting deadlines, and effectively manage competing priorities; Experience with radiation oncology equipment and treatment planning systems is an asset; Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
