Reporting to the Regional Leader - Medical Imaging Physics, you will be accountable for on-going quality assurance and acceptance testing for all x-ray, CT, radioscopy and ultrasound equipment, including ancillary equipment (i.e. CR Reader) within the Medical Imaging department and related equipment managed or operated by Medical Imaging staff at Lower Mainland sites (Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, Fraser Health Authority and Provincial Health Services Authority).


You will provide leadership and direction in the medical applications of physics and work as a key team member with colleagues and co-workers in continually developing and improving methods to image body structure and function.


Key partnerships are with Clinical Practitioners, Medical Physicists, Quality Coordinators, Directors, scientists, site-specific Radiation Safety Officers (SRSO) and Medical Radiation Technologist staff throughout the health authorities.





PhD or Masters in Physics, or a related Biomedical discipline and a minimum of 2 years clinic experience is required. Membership with the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) in Diagnostic/Radiological Physics or an equivalent body  Accreditation in Medical Physics of Mammography by the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) or its equivalent  A personal vehicle is required for this role.

Maintains current knowledge of new developments, trends and research in the medical applications of physics and recommends/implements best practices accordingly. Facilitates, collaborates and negotiates for effective conduct of clinical, practice and systems research, and works with colleagues and co-workers to achieve excellence in clinical, practice, and systems research. Skillfully develops meaningful indicators of quality and provides constructive reports based on the results of indicator monitoring. Uses a variety of software applications at an advanced level to prepare reports, briefing materials and other documents and to conduct statistical analysis. Provides guidance to site-specific RSOs
