Medical Physicist BC Cancer – Abbotsford Temporary Full-time Opportunity 1.0 FTE – Mon – Fri 08:00-16:00 or as operationally required Start date – March 1, 2018 End date – February 28, 2019 Abbotsford, BC

Applications are invited for the position of Medical Physicist at BC Cancer - Abbotsford. The successful candidate will join a team of 6 physicists supporting a very active Radiation Therapy Program. The Centre has 4 linear accelerators equipped with state of the art IMRT, SABR, IGRT, VMAT, motion management systems, and HDR/LDR Brachytherapy. Treatment planning is carried out on Varian Eclipse integrated into an extensive province-wide Aria network.

Clinical duties include but are not limited to,

• Development and implementation of new techniques or technologies

• Physics support for both external beam and brachytherapy procedures

• Consultations with dosimetrists and physicians

• Acceptance and commissioning of equipment

• Quality assurance and chart checking

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence in clinical and academic service. We run a CAMPEP accredited graduate medical physics program with the University of British Columbia (UBC) and a province-wide CAMPEP accredited BCCA medical physics residency program. A wide variety of collaborative research opportunities exist across the BCCA/UBC/SFU/UFV campuses.

Successful candidates should hold a PhD. or MSc. in Medical Physics. Preference will be given to applicants who are members of the CCPM/ABR. Exceptional candidates not meeting these requirements may be considered.

Reporting to the Head of Medical Physics, the successful candidate is expected to participate fully in all clinical services, treatment planning, quality assurance and development of new treatment techniques and protocols.
